Let's Nuzlocke Pokemon Emerald: Part 1: The Little Town with Pedantic Words

Heya everyone and welcome to my SSLP of Pokemon Emerald. However, as mentioned below, this isn't your usual playthrough of the game. This will be a Nuzlocke run. This means there will be a set of extra rules to follow, which are again:

-All Pokemon will be nicknamed (helps build attachment ^^).
-If any Pokemon faints, it is considered "dead" it cannot ever be used again. I'll be placing "dead" Pokemon in a box labelled "PokeHvn", the Pokemon Heaven.
-I can only catch the first Pokemon i find in a given area, and only that Pokemon. This means if the Pokemon is killed or in any other way not caught, I cannot get a Pokemon for that area. The exception is if the first Pokemon is a Pokemon I currently have caught that is not yet dead (so no duplicates).
-For added difficulty, the game will be played with the option on that prevents me from switching Pokemon after defeating a trainer's Pokemon. In other words, in order to switch in-battle, I'll have to risk letting the opponent attack.
-No legendaries, no breeding, no trading.

It might also be worth noting that I've never finished a third gen Pokemon game and never even touched Emerald before :D Let's begin!

Yea, and with the usual long speech on what Pokemon are and whatnot, you'll be making me wait even longer...

That's me ^^

And right away in the moving van, setting options to Set instead of Shift. No switching in between trainer Pokemon for me :D

A bunch of Vigoroth movers. Huh, them Pokemon be useful.

Obligatory Potion removal from PC

Ergo? Huh, this town uses some fancy schmancy words. Ergo.. hmmm....

Going into May's room for an awkward meeting. I was just in your room by myself to check out your.. Pokeballs. Yes.. Pokeballs.. heh.. heh.. oh hey, a Gamecube!

After a riveting game of Super Smash Bros Melee, we head to the fields to find...

This guy being mauled by a... Zigzagoon? What? Unfortunately, he won't let us leave so we'll have to help him..

Which means its starter choosing time! What to get, what to get...

To be honest, I rolled a dice here.. because random is fun. And I ended up getting a...

Mudkip! And.. wait.. that Zigzagoon is level 2?! Jeez.. that professor guy sure is pathetic..

But back in his lab, he uses more interesting words. First ergo, now aplomb? Since when did Pokemon use such odd word choices? I like it!

Thzus, we name him Ergo.. now we'll fit in better with the new town. Also, he happens to be Quirky, which fits his name quite appropriately. Ah Ergo, we'll be such great pals!

Well, our next mission is to find May. Her mom says she's on Route 103. How she got there already after just seeing her in her room I don't know. Well then, time to travel!

Seriously, first step in the grass ends up being a wild Pokemon. I just wanted to talk to that guy..

Ergo learns Mud Slap though. Accuracy beware >:D

Hey look its Oldale town. I'd make a joke about the name, but all those jokes are probably old (ba-dum ching... no)

First Pokemon Center. Move along.

Well hi there obligatory stupid reason why I can't progress off the linear path and go elsewhere.

So I guess we'll just have to go to Route 103 to the North instead..

Seriously?! You're like, one ridge-hop away from a Pokemon Center. And how are you tired already. Some Pokemon trainer you are!

Who didn't see this coming? I bet she even has the Grass starter as well.

Yep. You must be my recurring rival. Hurray.. -.- Oh by the way, Mud Slap + no grass moves = easy win :D .. being 3 levels up helps too.

After a lot of pointless and uneventful backtracking... Pokedex get!

And more importantly, we got balls! And pokeballs too! Know what this means? Its time to build our team. Three routes nearby means three new friends. Who will they be?

Find out next time on Let's Nuzlocke Pokemon Emerald.

-End Part 1

Seriously, this project is very fun so far. I'm actually a little past the 2nd gym at the moment.. and I'm loving my team. Don't expect things to go drama-free though. This will be one crazy ride. I'll be posting a lot more parts over the next few days until i'm caught up, and then it'll be just on the weekends (so it'll be on non-Oracle of Seasons days), where i'll post as many parts as it takes to catch up again ^^

See you all next time. L7DX, signing out.
